In a world where technology has made magic obsolete, eighteen-year-old Lev Stokely is determined to climb the career ladder, even if it means performing the pointless job he holds in a government mailroom that slows things to a crawl. But when it is discovered that the colors of people’s dreams have disappeared, Lev is thrust into the government’s efforts to find out why thanks to his estranged great-uncle, the Archmage of the Republic of Arenne’s very poor and very magical Southern Territory.

Lev is sent to the Southern Territory at the behest of the Archmage to help move things along. Unbeknownst to the powers that be, it is actually a person who is responsible for bringing color to the dream world, a young woman named Cecelia. But she has no interest in fulfilling the duties placed upon her, and she has no interest in anything to do with Lev. Can he convince her take up the cause? And if he is successful, is he prepared to lose everything to help her?

Cece's Dream Machine is a young adult fantasy novel about the loss of things too subtle to notice until they are gone, and how everyday people can take matters into their own hands to set things right.
